OPERATIONS

We operate in the Otway and Gippsland regions of Victoria. We have offices in Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. We have operations teams based at our gas plants in the Otway and Gippsland regions.

ONSHORE ACTIVITIES

Athena Gas Plant

After purchasing the Athena Gas Plant, Cooper Energy re-commissioned it in 2021. Gas from our offshore Casino, Henry and Netherby (CHN) gas fields is processed through the Athena Gas Plant; this gas supplies our customers in south-east Australia.

We have a team of around 20 operations staff at the Athena Gas Plant who are supported by local services and expertise from within the region.

Orbost Gas Plant

The offshore Sole gas field has been producing gas for our customers in the south-east since Q1 2020.
Our Sole gas is produced through the Orbost Gas Plant located approximately 14km south of Orbost in Gippsland. Cooper Energy purchased the plant in 2022.

OFFSHORE ACTIVITIES

The gas we produce originates from offshore subsea wells. These wells tap into gas reserves that lie over  one kilometre beneath the seabed. The gas flows through our wells at a controlled rate into subsea pipelines that connect to an onshore gas processing plant, before making its way to our customers.
Our Gippsland offshore assets include the Patricia-Baleen and Sole gas fields.

Patricia-Baleen assets include a 24km subsea pipeline, umbilical cable, and the Patricia-1 (suspended), Patricia-2, and Baleen-4 wells. Historically the Patricia-Baleen fields produced dry gas through two subsea wells which are now shut in and not producing. Our activities at Patricia Baleen include monitoring the wells, vessel-based inspection, and
maintenance of subsea infrastructure to maintain the integrity of infrastructure.

Sole operations include two gas production wells (Sole-3 and Sole-4) connected to a 65km pipeline and
umbilical that links to the Orbost Gas Plant. The Sole production wells were drilled in 2018 and continue to be
operated, monitored, and controlled through the Orbost Gas Plant. The Sole-2 well is plugged and isolated from the reservoir; the remaining wellhead at Sole-2 is planned to be recovered when the field is decommissioned.

Our operations in the Otway involve maintaining production from four gas production wells installed between 2005 and 2009 at the CHN gas fields. The wells are connected to 55km of pipeline and umbilicals that connect to the Athena Gas Plant onshore.

All of our offshore wells are inside Petroleum Safety Zones (PSZ); these are marked on navigational charts

and are typically 500m radius. Entry into a PSZ is prohibited without the express permission of the Titleholder.
